		<description>gaskets are not the only things that will fail in vanos unit.
there are two hydraulic pistons that deliver oil to both sides of vanos pistons.  also two gears (vanos will push and pull these)that will turn camshafts into their position will develop wear which will also give additional play to the system.
there are two components that have to be measured in vanos system: reaction time and system leak, reaction time will tell you how fast vanos will get to demanded position and leakage will tell you how many degrees camshaft will lose from its wanted position when vanos is hold still.
bmw advises that it can lose up to 5 degrees before it has to be changed to new part however when its losing over couple degrees, system will fail to work properly.
do not forget to get software upgrade on m52tu engine that will eliminate cold engine erratic idle and off the line driveability, esp on manuals.
so beisansystems may produce good product ( that my clients have tried multiple times)but you need to look at bigger picture.
