This is a step by step DIY for installing the Vorsteiner bootlid. This install will require some patience as well as some minor dremel work. Here is a list of tools which you will need to install your V-CSL bootlid.

3. Dremel kit
4. Wire splicer kit

Let’s begin. First remove the trunk liner. You can use a flat head screw driver to lift the pushpins. Then simply pull them out with your fingtips. This is a two piece push pin, so the center top piece needs to come all the way out fist then the base comes out. Also remove the toolkit which is held down by 2 screws on each end imbedded into the carpet.
Unplug all the connectors from the wire loom. There should be 5 total connectors to remove. (plugs – 2 reverse lights, locking mechanism, trunk release button and trunk latch). Now remove the reverse lights.
Remove the locking mechanism. Pull the center out first, you can use a flat head screwdriver to pry it apart. Then remove the 2 torx screws. The locking mechanism comes out by turning it clockwise.
Rap some tape around the ends of the plugs of the wire loom. This will make it easy to pull the wire loom out of the trunk. At this time also remove all other components in the trunk.
Remove the clips which hold the bumper shocks to the trunk. Also remove the 4 Torx screws which hold the trunk to the hinges (torx 30).
Now place your V-CSL bootlid onto the hinges and put the 4 torx screws back on. Look at the fade marks on your hinges for initial trunk placement and tighten the screws.
With nothing on the V-CSL but the 4 screws, insert your wire loom back into the bootlid. Now carefully close the bootlid and check for initial fitment. Be very careful when closing it for the first time. At this point no alignment has been done. Make sure that no parts of the bootlid hit your car.
Let’s first re-install the locking mechanism. Place the rubber grommets on the outside of the key opening and install the locking mechanism counter clockwise. If the torx screw holes don’t line up properly, simply dremel the holes bigger.
Re-install the trunk latch. Also re-attach the plugs for the locking mechanism and trunk latch.
To adjust the trunk catch, first pop off the 2 round covers.
Adjust the trunk latch about ¼”. Some trunks may need more or less adjustment. Adjust the catch so the striker from the trunk latch is centered correctly.
You can adjust the trunk to move left or right by adjust the 4 torx screws on the hinges. Do so by apply some horizontal force and slowly push the trunk the direct you want to move.
Repeated adjustments to these 4 torx screws may be required in order to have your bootlid centered onto the car. Remember to apply constant pressure with your thumb to move the trunk in the direction you want as you loosen and tight the 4 torx screws.
At this point you should have your bootlid sitting fairly centered.
Often times the height of the trunk will also need adjustment. As you can the passenger side looks to be the correct height, but the driver side is too high near the rear window.
Adjust the height by loosening these 2 bolts and lowering/raising the hinges accordingly. Each side of the hinge can be moved up or down independently.
The recommend side view should look like this.
When attaching the lights, the bootlid needs to go under this part. Look where the screw driver is pointing too.
Here is the other side of the light. This is the area which latches to the trunk.
Push the light up and slide it over with a screw driver until it catches.
The oem connector which goes to the trunk release and license plate lights has the following 3 wire colors brown, grey/brown stripe and grey/yellow stripe). Splice in the brown and grey/brown for each of the new registration plate light: 63 26 7 165 646. The grey/yellow wire is for oem trunk release which will no longer be used.
This is a pic of your oem trunklid stopper area. Notice how one side of the opening is higher then the other side. You will have to dremel the v-csl bootlid too look like this.
To create a raised lip, dremel on the bottom surface of the opening.
To create a lower lip, dremel on the top surface of the opening.
Now screw in the stoppers.
The finished product should look like this.
Notice how the lights all line up correctly.
