First ever produced 3 series in USA (e36)

Here is the first ever produced 3 series in the US. It was a 318i and it came out on September 8 1994 in the South Carolina BMW factory. The production of 3 series has long been discontinued in the US, I think there was some quality issues and BMW decided to stop their production locally, but I can not back this up for sure with a document. If anyone knows the story in details, please share with us.

Anyway for the time being, and for history records enjoy the picture :-)
